BIGGEST ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER IN UNITED STATES HISTORY--GULF of MEXICO OIL SPILL

On April 20, 2010 a Methane Gas Bubble was able to escape through a defective safety valve on the Deepwater Horizon's offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, causing an explosion that sank the drilling rig, killing 11 crewmen while injuring 17 others. This day will go down in History as the biggest environmental disaster in the United States. Efforts by British Petroleum (BP) to stop the flow of oil from the damaged oil well, which is 5000 feet down to the ocean floor, has proven fruitless as of 06/04/2010. It is estimated that over 20,000 barrels of oil is gushing out into the Gulf of Mexico each and every day, so far.

The economic impact of this Gulf of Mexico oil spill to the fishing industry and tourism will be gigantic, as thousands of families living along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, will lose their livelihoods. With an already damaged economy, this oil spill will effect all of us, here in the United States and perhaps the world. BP's falling share price is already adding to the worldwide implications on an already sagging enconomy.

Those companies responsible for the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill are, BP (BritishPetroleum), Transocean and Deepwater Horizon. As the Bird and Marine Wildlife is being affected by the oil, a massive cleanup is underway. At Port Fourchon, Louisiana, which is the hub for the oil industry's Gulf of Mexico oil spill clean up, BP has erected a large Flotel ( Floating Hotel) for 500 employees. These workers can be dispatched to areas where help is needed the most, by way of these Flotels.
