PERTUSSIS is a HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS RESPIRATORY DISEASE

As of 8/17/2010 the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) reported 8 Infant Deaths from the 3,076 confirmed, probable and suspect cases of "Pertussis" (Whooping Cough) to date. The 3,076 cases is a 7 fold increase of "Whooping Cough" from the cases reported during the same period as in 2009, when only 434 cases of "Pertussis" ('Whooping Cough') were reported. It is believed that the recent surge in 'whooping cough' infections is attributed to parents who believe the Myth that the pertussis vaccine causes 'Autism'. They are therefore refusing to vaccinate their new born infants. Parents believe that the pertussis vaccine, which also protects infants against diphtheria and tetanus, may cause "AUTISM", which is totally "UNFOUNDED".

Nearly all of the leading health organizations including the CDC and the NIH say that there is NO relationship between 'vaccines' and "AUTISM".

Dr. Paul Offit, MD chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the renowned Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania said "just because two things happen at the same time, does not mean one caused the other".

Dr. Paul Offit, MD also reported that scientific studies have consistently shown such rumors, as 'vaccines' causing 'Autism', to be unfounded,    Not True !!

Of these 8 infant deaths reported by the CDPH, 7 deaths were infants less than two months old and had not received any doses of the "Pertussis" containing 'vaccine'.  One death was a two month old infant who had received the first dose of DTaP, a "Pertussis" containing vaccine just eleven days prior to the disease onset. The majority of infant cases of "pertussis" in California so far in 2010 have occurred in infants less than three months old.

Pertussis vaccinations (DTaP) in children begin at age two months with a series of three shots by age six months. For a complete series of inoculations, children should receive five shots of DTaP by the time they reach kindergarten (ages 4-6) and a 'Tdap' booster by age eleven. Booster shots of Tdap are recommended for all teens and adults and especially true if they have any contact with infants under 6 months of age or before the infant receives the first three shots of DTaP. Just a reminder, "Pertussis"/ 'Whooping Cough' is a highly contagious respiratory disease.

CDC REPORTS--"PERTUSSIS" is SPREADING

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that several other states besides California are seeing a significant rise in the number of reported "pertussis" cases. CDC reports that since the 1980's there has been a steady increase in the number 'Whooping Cough' or "Pertussis" cases, especially among teens ( 10-19) years of age and babies less than 6 months of age.

In 2008 there were more than 13,000 reported cases of "Pertussis" , including 18 deaths nationally. CDC reports that whooping cough outbreaks are being seen in several other states, indicating that "Pertussis" has gone up significantly and still rising.

"Pertussis" may appear to be just a common cold and fever is rare. "Whooping Cough" begins with a runny nose and cough. This condition may last for one to two weeks. After this time the symptoms worsen. A mild fever may begin, followed by a dry hacking cough. Other symptoms are nasal congestion, sneezing, red watery eyes and a continued runny nose. Should the child begin to vomit, turn red or blue and begin to inhale with a whooping sound, you should call the Doctor at once. The first half of the 20th century, "Pertussis" or 'Whooping Cough' was the leading cause of childhood illness and death by "whooping cough" in the United States.

INFLUENZA (FLU) another RESPIRATORY DISEASE

In 2009 the H1N1 influenza virus, better known as the swine flu, was the cause of the first global Influenza pandemic in more than 40 years and caused substantial illness, hospitalizations and deaths as reported by the CDC.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly influenza (flu) vaccination as the first important step in protecting against being infected by the influenza (flu) virus. The U.S. 2010-2011 seasonal influenza vaccine will protect against the H3N2 virus, influenza B virus and the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus that emerged last year.

Senior citizens, 65 years old and older are strongly encouraged to receive an inoculation of the 2010-2011 seasonal influenza vaccine which includes the 2009 H1N1 flu virus. While adults over 65 years of age are less likely to be infected with the 2009 H1N1 flu virus, those who do become infected are at a greater risk of having serious complications from their illness. There have been severe infections and deaths in every age group including senior citizens over the age of 65 who are at a very high risk for developing flu-related complications.

Manufacturers of the 2010-2011 influenza vaccine have begun shipping the vaccine to various depots and it is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and older receive an inoculation for this flu vaccine. You are encouraged to consult with your primary physician regarding your influenza inoculation for the upcoming flu season.

PNEUMONIA

  • Pneumonia is an inflammatory disease of the lungs, usually caused by an infection. Bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites can cause pneumonia. Pneumonia is of particular concern if you are older than 65 or have a chronic illness or an impaired immune system. Pneumonia can also infect the young and healthy humans as well.

Pneumonia can range in seriousness from mild to life-threatening. Pneumonia often is a complication of another condition, such as the flu. Antibiotics can treat most common forms of bacterial pneumonias, but antibiotic-resistant strains are a growing problem. The best approach is to try and avoid the infection.

As one can see respiratory diseases are serious and can be deadly. "Pertussis" ("whooping cough"), Lung Cancer, Black Lung, Influenza (flu) and Pneumonia are just the most popular respiratory infections. Lung Cancer is of course the most serious and affects a larger population of humans here in the United States.

LUNG CANCER

The staff at the Mayo Clinic defines Lung Cancer as a type of cancer that begins in the lungs. Your lungs (see picture above) are two spongy organs in your chest that takes in oxygen when you inhale and releases carbon dioxide when you exhale.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, among both men and women. Lung cancer claims more lives each year than colon, prostate, ovarian, lymph and breast cancers combined.

People who smoke have the greatest risk of lung cancer. The risk of lung cancer increases with the length of time and the number of cigarettes smoked. If you quit smoking, even after smoking for many years, you can significantly reduce your chances of developing lung cancer. Those of you who are reading this article who are smokers,  "please take note"  and quit smoking-- NOW !
